EDEN ON THE CHOCOLATA
Eden on the Chocolata is an eco lodge & retreat center in a beautiful hillside garden along the road called La Chocolata. Our luxury cabanas have been built to give you the experience of being close to nature, but still in the warm embrace of comfort and hospitality.
Enjoy the view over Nacascolo Bay from our shared rancho and yoga deck and dive into our swimming pool to cool off from the year-round sun in Nicaragua.
A shuttle is offered for 2 USD (one way) pp to/from San Juan del Sur.
I had a wonderful yoga retreat experience at Eden on the Chocolata from December 8-13, 2024. They accommodated my dates with a flex retreat to help with schedule alignment. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a serene and nurturing space, thanks to the incredible owners, Remy and Kelly, and the amazing instructors, LaToya and Katie.
The daily yoga sessions with LaToya and/or Katie were absolutely soul-refreshing. Their guidance was thoughtful and inspiring, helping me connect with my body and mind. Katie’s Somatic healing session was a deeply moving experience—I was able to visualize and feel parts of myself that I’ve never before related to in that way. I was surprised at how quickly her voice/methods helped me tap into my inner self having never experienced a somatic session before! LaToya's sound bath session was vibration full and moving!
The owners, Remy and Kelly, bring a special magic to Eden. Remy’s quick responses to my numerous inquiries prior to arriving put my mind at ease since I’ve never booked a trip without a personal referral before. This time I was relying primarily on positive reviews from the book retreats site.
Kelly led a beautiful and grounding Temazcal ceremony, which was a spiritually enriching experience followed by an ice bath. Remy’s Breathworks session was powerful, teaching us techniques that I can leverage in the future, which was also followed by the opportunity to participate in yet another ice bath. On my first try, I managed 37 seconds, and by the second attempt, I stayed in for 1 minute and 10 seconds. It was an exhilarating experience!
I also had the pleasure of meeting some really amazing and fun people from all over the world, including folks from the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and Mexico. The retreat’s schedule was perfectly balanced, allowing me plenty of free time to explore the nearby hostel, hike to the breathtaking Christ statue, and wander through the lively city center to get some souvenirs.
A few practical notes for future visitors: definitely bring bug spray, as the tropical setting comes with its share of mosquitoes and various other bugs! Also, be prepared for the tropical vibe of the rooms—they’re beautifully rustic and cozy with mosquito nets around the beds, but they don’t have A/C, so pack light and breathable clothing. They advised us to bring sleep masks and ear plugs, which definitely came in handy because it gets dark very early and light very early prompting all the creatures of the jungle to chime in with their voices early and loudly! 😊
Eden on the Chocolata is more than a retreat center—it’s a haven for personal growth, healing, and connection. Remy, Kelly, and their team create an environment where you feel seen, supported, and uplifted. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone seeking a transformative experience in a stunning, peaceful setting.

My stay at Eden on the Chocolata was magical! I stayed in the shared bungalow (3 people per room), which was the newest of the cabins. Staff cleaned the room every day and it was very well kept. Each bed is equipped with netting to keep the bugs out and the beds were very comfortable. The service at Eden was absolutely amazing, everyone was so kind, welcoming and extremely helpful. I did the 8 day yoga retreat and I would highly recommend it. The yoga, workshops and ceremonies were highlights of my trip and I left feeling restored, balanced and full of love from all of the amazing people I met. I am hoping to be back very soon!
This place is a dream - I’d stay here longer if I could. The yoga classes were wonderful - I had Katie and La Toya, massages were the best I’ve ever had and ridiculously cheap, the food was clean and tasty, the surf instructor (Eduardo) is incredibly patient and kind, and the staff is top-notch - Scott and Eli made sure we were well taken care of. Internet surprisingly was a 10/10 and was easy for me to take meetings and work remotely.

If you are looking for the perfect place to enjoy your holiday, this is it! The cabana’s are very nice and sleeping there makes you feel connected to nature. Remy and Kelly and their team will do anything to make you feel at home. The outstanding yoga classes are definitely a big addition to the experience. Will come back for sure!
I had the most relaxing and transformative week at Eden. The place is so tranquil and zen, the rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. The food is so fresh and delicious. The staff at Eden are wonderful and super accommodating. The yoga deck and yoga instructors are amazing. This is a place to go if you are trying to find peace and tranquility and reset.
